Caféruna's Mission
Caféruna aims to raise awareness of the importance of fair trade and direct trade principles, and further ideate this by collaborating with the farmers of Maracocha. By highlighting the power of consumer choice through communicating our journey with customers, we will be able to introduce these concepts.
The vision of Meraki Giving applies to Caferuna, in which we wish to create a world that engages in global ethical practices.
Caféruna
Meraki Giving’s past initiative, Caféruna, partnered with coffee farmers in Marancocha, Peru. Our objective together was to generate sustainable business opportunities to sell Caferuna's coffee, while being a non-profit company so that the profits made can be reinvested into issues of Maracocha's community.
By forming a strong partnering relation, deeper understanding of certain economic and social needs of Maracocha's community can be learned, so that we can assist the progress of infrastructural growth. Maintaining the practice of fair trade within communities such as Maracocha requires proper global commitment. From this, we can aid its community in developing humanitarian virtues and ethics, so that discrimination and other forms of disrespect will not be seen.
Why are Direct Trade and Fair Trade Practices Important?
The idea of Fair Trade is that workers should receive equal and fair trade, and through this, the ability to maintain sustainable economic opportunities for people within the vulnerable communities of third-world countries. These international principles, along with the notion of Direct Trade, formally guarantee that social and economic equity is performed in all parts of the world. The sustainable label of Fair and Direct Trade ensures that global communities are treated with dignity and respect. A dollar spent on items that are processed through fair trade is an investment into the future of societal and economic equality.
